Volunteers are angels among us
Day in and day out, often times behind the scenes, the members of “People Need Friends” are busy about the business of enhancing the quality of life for so many. Through the gift of time and individualized attention our volunteers remind and reinforce the dignity and worth of each person.
Life in a group home or our day program is a busy place. Our dedicated staff work diligently to assure that each person is cared for with the highest standards. Needless to say, this doesn’t allow a lot of ‘extra’ time for one to one outings or activities with each resident individually. We are so very blessed to have volunteers who fill that gap, that take the time to develop friendships and focus on the extras that make meaningful experiences and memories.
We are so happy to welcome 3 new volunteers:
Bill & Ellen Sharkey and Stacey Kobeszko
Bill and Ellen Sharkey will be sharing their time with the clients at the Gruenert Center
Stacey Kobeszko is a new additon to our
CARE (Catholic Adult Religious Education) Program
Our very successful CARE program of religious education and fellowship
depends solely on volunteers. Last year
248 hours of volunteer time went into making it a program of quality and spiritual nourishment. Such amazing generosity of time and talent!
Whether they give their time to an individual, a group event, an entire program or home, we cannot imagine what the DPD would be like without those special people who think beyond themselves, focus on the needs of others and as Mother Teresa said, "do small things with great love.”
Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.
