On November 14, 2016 representatives of the “Fight for the Right” club completed their most recent undertaking and presented ‘Survival Kits’ to the Jefferson Township Police Department. Each kit contains a collection of various candies that correspond to a particular characteristic or show of support for the officers. In total the club made over 200 bags to be given to both the Jefferson Township Police and the State Police located in Newton, NJ.
Each kit was prepared with love by the men and women who live in the DPD group homes. The mission of the club is to find ways to give back to the community. The residents of the DPD are often the recipients of much wonderful generosity and kindness from the community and appreciative of the support. Out of this came the desire for the residents to find ways that they themselves could give back for the many blessings bestowed upon them. The “Fight for the Right’ Club was formed to provide an outlet to do just that. This year they have provided Mother’s Day gift bags to the young moms at Birth Haven in Newton, conducted a food drive for the Jefferson Township Animal Shelter, created centerpieces for the local women’s Club Bunny Brunch and made Halloween decorations and snacks for a nearby nursing home. The club meets once per month at the DPD headquarters in Jefferson Township, NJ. New members and volunteers are always welcome.
