Forms of the word “delight” (delight, delighted, delighting, delightful…) occur over a hundred times in the Bible. Many relate to delight in the Lord and most of those specifically relate to delight in God’s word. If you take delight in the Lord, He will tend to the desires of your heart. So does that mean He’ll give us everything we ask for in prayer? Not necessarily. The scripture doesn’t promise that God will give us everything we ask for, but it does say that He will
tend to the desires of our heart. And so we pray as we begin a new week:
“Help us to trust you to know what we truly need, and to be content with the blessings you choose to send our way.”
✙ Gracious God, please pour your love upon those who have asked to be remembered in our prayers:

January 26–Saints Timothy and Titus What we know from the New Testament of Timothy’s life makes it sound like that of a modern harried bishop. He had the honor of being a fellow apostle with Paul, both sharing the privilege of preaching the gospel and suffering for it. Timothy was a convert of Paul around the year 47 and later joined him in his apostolic work. He was with Paul at the founding of the Church in Corinth. During the 15 years he worked with Paul, he became one of his most faithful and trusted friends. He was sent on difficult missions by Paul—often in the face of great disturbance in local churches which Paul had founded. Probably no surprise that he is the Patron Saint of stomach disorders!
Titus has the distinction of being a close friend and disciple of Paul as well as a fellow missionary. Titus is seen as a peacemaker, administrator, and great friend.
✙ January 28- St. Thomas Aquinas, priestand doctor of the Church -
Thomas Aquinas was born toward the end of the year 1226. He was nicknamed the "dumb ox" because of his silent ways and huge size, but he was really a brilliant student. He authored many works but most widely known for the “Summa Theologica” called a classic of the history of philosophy and one of the most influential works of Western literature. It is a summary, or manual of theology including the five arguments for the existence of God known as the "five ways”. Although incomplete, it contains approximately three thousand, five hundred pages.
