We would like to congratulate Karen Rieser on being selected as the Department for Persons with Disabilities Employee of the Month for April 2016.
Karen is more than a hard working staff. Anyone that sees her in action knows that she adores all the residents as they adore her, too. This goes to show the depth of love and commitment Karen extends to each and every one of them. She is happy to come in and help out anytime she is needed and is held in highest regard by staff and residents alike.
Karen came to the department via an ad she saw in the newspaper and the rest is history. She has 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. If this wasn’t enough to keep her busy in addition to working at the Columbus House she is a firm believer in the importance of volunteerism. Karen has a great love for animals and this has led her to volunteering at the Van Saun County Park Zoo in Paramus.
“Wherever there are people in need, children or animals, I’m there,” was her response how she spends her free time. Karen is not one to waste any time when she could be out doing good and giving back. Mother Teresa of Calcutta said, “Intense love does not measure, it just gives.” For Karen there is no measure when it comes to her generosity of time and commitment.
We are happy to honor Karen as the April Employee of the Month!
