Robert Konowich – Uncle of Jake Ferguson.  We pray for your healing hand to rest upon Robert and bring him back to wholeness and strength. We pray this with gratitude for protecting his life.
Jean Williams -  Mother of Gruenert staff member Lisa Beasley. May the Lord give her strength in body, courage in spirit, and patience in suffering.
Jimmy Feehan - Brother of Julie Tatti.  For strength and courage as he deals with cancer.  May God’s healing presence surround him.
Clement - grant him the grace and strength to accept the burden of cancer.
Chris Androski - husband of Barnet House volunteer Nina. That his ear is healed and he gets his hearing back.
James Ondimu Ochoki – For healing for this beloved father, grandfather, father in-law, brother in-law, and uncle to many.

Wally Camacho  - May the love of God, family and friends sustain him as he undergoes dialysis 3 days a week.
Anthony - a young man of 23 whose lungs are not in good condition, may God draw him near as his final hours approach and for comfort for his loving family.

✙ January 1 – Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God
“Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us!” In 431 at the Council of Ephesus, Mary was given the title of Mother of God. In the Eastern church Mary is called Theotokas which means God-bearer. The Blessed Mother always leads those that are devoted to her, to her beloved son, Jesus.

Solemnities celebrate events, beliefs, and personages of greatest importance and universal significance in salvation history. Of the three types of Eucharistic liturgies they are the most important. They are followed by Feasts and finally Memorials
✙ January 4 –Elizabeth Ann Seton
Elizabeth was the first person born in the United States to be declared a saint.  She opened the first American Catholic parish school and established the first American Catholic orphanage and she founded the first Native American religious community of women. Elizabeth was prepared for New York high society. At the age of nineteen she married William Seton, the son and business partner of the owner of a wealthy shipping firm. Will and Elizabeth were devoted to each other. They loved their five children—three girls and two boys. Everything went well until 1803, when Will Seton's business went bankrupt and his health failed and he eventually died leaving Elizabeth destitute and caring for their 5 children. To support herself and her children, she opened a Catholic She eventually began a community of religious Sisters, who later became known as the Daughters of Charity. Elizabeth Seton received the title of “Mother,” head of the community. Elizabeth raised her children. Her two sons entered the navy. Anna became a nun but died at an early age, as did Rebecca. Catherine became a Sister of Mercy and worked with those in prison. Today thousands of Daughters of Charity carry on Mother Seton's work. They serve in hospitals, homes for the aged, and schools.
✙ January 8- The Epiphany
Epiphany is one of the oldest Christian feasts. It commemorates the first two occasions on which Jesus’ divinity, according to Christian belief, was manifested: when the three kings visited infant Jesus in Bethlehem, and when John the Baptist baptized him in the River Jordan. The Roman Catholic and Protestant churches emphasize the visit of the Magi when they celebrate the Epiphany. 
Legend tells us about the Magi or 3 Kings:
The first was called Caspar by name, young, beardless, of ruddy hue, offered to Jesus his gift of incense, the homage due to Divinity. The second, Melchior; he was an old man, with white hair and long beard; he offered gold to the Lord as to his king. The third, of black complexion, with heavy beard, was called Balthasar; the myrrh he held in his hands prefigured the death of the Son of man.
